timing WD45

Browsing the archives gives a lot of info on timing but nothing specific on a WD 45.

I found 2 timing marks on the flywheel, the first is a straight line the second is approx 3 in behind on the circumference with the letter F which I assume means fire at TDC.

Which line do I time to and do I center it in the inspection hole or some other ref point.

Thanks in advance for any input.

The F means "Fire" if you hold the timing light under the tractor with the inspection plate for the clutch off, the front middle hole should be directly under the flywheel. Run the tractor at factory high idel (around 1720 RPM"s) and shine the light thru the bolt hole and rotate the distributer so the the "F" is seen thru the bolt hole. Then the timing will be set.

Not sure but the "F" is used for timing and the other one should show up with a timing light when running the engine at high idle to check the advance in the distributor.
