Will a wd45 gas transmission and rear end bolt up to a wd 45 diesel. How much faster is the gas rear-end. Has anyone out there ever don this.

the pinion and ring gear are different. wd45 part number 225972 and wd45 diesel pn 237111 (same as d17 serie 1) and pn for pinion is 225937 for wd45 and 227221 for wd45d

My parts book says they have the same part no. for the ring and pinion, and the same for the final drive pinion and bull gear. I don't think there was any difference in first, second, and third either, fourth would be 1 to 1 anyway.

This is a great question. I have some info. According to my references, the ground speed at rated RPM in each gear is the same for all models of the WD-45. Since the diesel rated RPM is 1625 versus 1400 for the gas model, it would seem to indicate that the rear axel ratio between gas and diesel is different. If this is true, the gasoline rear end on a diesel would go 16% (1625/1400). Hopefully someone of our readers will have the actual ratios.
