Have a bad pto seal on allis ed 40 dealer said part no longer available Does any one know where I could get one. Seal that came out not the right one so I can not match any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

If it is like the pto seal on my 170, AC used a heavy duty rubber seal with a felt back-up. Someone had replaced the original with a single lip cheapie and it didn't last. I got lucky and found I had some in a box of NOS parts that I had. Try to get the original part number from your dealer and post it.....I might have one.

Should be able to take the dimensions and find a seal that way if one is available.

Measure the shaft, bore the seal goes in and the depth of the bore. Measurements will need to be in thousandths so use a dial caliper if you have one.

Take these measurements to a good parts store and they will have a book that can get the number's for seals that will work in that application.

Word of warning, you will need someone on the other side of the counter that knows more about parts than how to look them up on a computer.

Try an industrial bearing supplier. They would more likely have the knowledge to find the right size and type of seal.
