I HAVE A 160 THAT THE 3PT WILL NOT OPERATE. IT HAS A NEW PUMP. THIS TRACTOR WAS DOCTORED UP BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE DEPTH CONTROL DOESN'T WORK. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT, HE FIXED A VALVE THAT IS LOCATED INTERNALLY UNDER THE SEAT, HE SAID IT WASN'T PERFECT BUT THE ARMS LIFTED (STILL NO DEPTH CONTROL) SO FOR THE PRICE I WAS SATISFIED. WELL THE 3PT HAS FAILED AGAIN, THE MECHANIC HAS MOVED ON. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH VALVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN. SO I CAN TRY GETTING A NEW ONE AND REPLACE IT RIGHT THIS TIME.

Well I just got my 160 out of the shop and it didn't heal itself this time! Lift was stuck in the up position problem was with the valve under the seat. Apparently the valve was just stuck! Mechanic freed it up and the lift is working like a top now.

I also have a 160 with lift problems. When you crank the tractor the lift goes all the way up and will not come down. It has happened before and eventually healed (?) itself. I think it occurs when the depth control (draft control) is used. Lift seemed to work fine as long as the depth control remained all the way down. A mechanic friend told me to add a about a quart of diesel fuel to the hydraulic oil and it might free the valve that was stuck ??? Haven't tried it yet but I am going to and will let you know if it works!

I have the same problem with my 6040 allis which is like the 160's brother, did you ever find the problem?

I have operaated several of the ac 160's and after time they all had 3 point problems. It was the linkage needing to be adjusted and one of them had to be taken to the dealer and they never did get the depth control to operate without jerking.

Are you absolutely sure the system doesn't simply need to be bled?
