I read somewhere the military used B's with cast valve covers and oil pans, might also explain the different grille and rims. The tag may also be the military serial #. Anyway to post pics? This thing sounds interesting.

You have the 65th AC B built. It should have a Waukesha engine instead of an Allis engine. It is a 1937. There were only 96 made in 1937. Your rear fenders are probably flat and look homemade. If it has the original engine, you got a great deal, very rare tractor. Congratulations!

this is a factory tag there is no numbers for gear selection that all b models have grill has a brass rod fasten agaist hood instead of preesed into the metal, tool box over torque tub is rounded with tube, cast iron valve cover, front wheels andspindels different, rear rims have a ring like a old truck all orieinal,x owner said bought in 1937 b models did not start till 1939 by books, maybe a proto type thanks bud

brass tags are normally installed by the owner to designate equipment numbers and they are not AC serial numbers.--- what different sheetmetal do you have.
