In my WD I suspect hydraulic fluid may be leaking into the transmission. Is there any possibility that some transmission stop leak added to the hydraulic system would fix this problem. Many years ago it worked like a miracle in an old Chevy. for me.

Thanks for the information. I"ve got it saved as I have been having a few problems with my computer lately. I"m not eager to split the tractor. I split a C last year and accidentally tipped it over on it"s front when I was putting it back together. It survived the fall amazingly well and only dented in the radiator hose connection on the top.

If the engine needs a rebuild, pull itg and the housings behind. Easy to fab engine stands with 'Bulldog' jacks from a farm store. With narrow front, fab outriggers to steady, wide front, use wedges to stabilize.

If you decide to replace the seal here is a little info for you to think about. Early ones had only one seal. Later ones had two seals, one faceing each way. A kit is available to adapt one seal tractors to two seals. I bought one from AGCO. There was some problem as I remember. I used either a later housing or a later shaft. Later parts have a longer seal area to fit two seals in. The kit fakes this if it is right. Sleeve on shaft I think, and longer seal or dual seal or some such to get two seals where housing is only machined long enough for one. Installing is easy, but it is a lot of work to take the tractor apart and thousing apart to get to the seals. And putting the tractor halves back together is easy, but pay a lot of attention to alingment of shaft going into seal area, and frame to rear end. Use long bolts with heads removed to help align frame to rear end. Get reprint of AC repair manual. I&T has a good section too. It takes both as I remember to get a clear view of seal kit.
