the hydraulic pump on my B knocks when I first try to use it. I know there is to be 20 weight oil in it but the previous owner put 80/90 in the rear end. it worked fine all summer now that it is cold things move very slow it warmed up then work fine and the knock goes away will an oil change in the rear end cure this also is there a filter that can be change at the same time ?

There is NO hydraulic filter.

you should not use gear lube in the system if you have hydraulics. you will have major cavitation and noise as you mention. most new systems us hytrans or universal hydrualic- trans fluid. you can use 20 wt oil if you want, but dont use gear lube.

Very good chance that if you put a thinner oil in it the knock will go away. My self I use hy-tran oil in my C, same pump as your B and it works just fine in all weather.
