hi all. just bought a D-21. it currently has 1000 rpm pto. can u flip the shaft around like some tractors or do you have to get a diff shaft? how hard is it to change? all my equipment is 540. thanks for the help in advance.

D21's were 1000 RPM only.

You are lucky to have a PTO at all. Most didn't have a PTO or 3 point hitch.

Abilene Machine carries a 540 pto shaft though.

Morning Dug,

D-21's only have the 1000 RPM PTO.

To my knowledge, there is no way to change. Depending on your equipment, you may be able to use an adapter from 1000 to 540 and just run the tractor a little over half throttle. The adpater causes an increase in length of the PTO shaft and may cause some problems when turning extremely tight.

you guys are right they were 1000 rpm only. i dunno why i was thinking they were 540 also. bad memory i guess. yeah mine came with 3 point and 1000 pto and remote hydraulics. thanks for the info.
