I"ve been trying to identify what year my 5040 is. The vin. data book says the plate is supposed to be under the steering wheel. We looked up under the steering wheel on the dash and could"nt find anything but where the shift data sticker was. We did find four little holes on the right side of the tranny case about where your foot would be. Is there any other numbers on this tractor that would be of help?

the serial number on mine is on the trans. just below the parking brake about where you said that the holes were that you found. the book says that it should be below the steering wheel on mine but for some reason that is the wrong information.

you might be able to find the engine serial number and ask a AGCO dealer if they can tell you the year based on that. can't think of where the engine number is though.
