I just pulled the pan on my B to check the bearings, etc. and it looks like someone made a temporary repair on the oil pickup with an old piece of screen. How do I remove the pickup? It just revolves around the tube and I don't see any screws to remove. The tube itself looks fine. Thanks! George

Turn it clock ways untill it falls off. It is threaded on.

Thanks Dick! I"ll try it later this evening. By the way, what type of screen could I use to replace the repair? Would a piece of coarse stainless wool work (assuming it wouldn"t be sucked up into the pump)?

Got the screen out..now I see how it works! After a dunk in my solvent tank it came up nice and clean and can be reused. Looks like I'll have to pull the axle/wishbone out to unscrew the pickup housing though. Is the housing supposed to be loose so it can swivel, or should it be on tight and facing forwards? Seems like you'd lose some suction with it loose.

It should be tight and facing forward. Loose could cause you to lose oil pump prime. (No oil pressure)
