I have the steering gear apart on my B, and it looks like I need to replace the bearings. I was just wondering if these bearings are still available? They are pretty rusty, but it looks like they say Bower on them.(can't read the #). Anyone know if they can be found somewhere? -Thanks

Since you don't indicate that your steering box has 20 of the 5/16" bearing balls which the Ross uses, I assume you are working on a Gemmer box. Gemmer used Timken 5BC roller cage, 6A lower cup and 7A upper cup. Bower numbers BT-5C cage, BT-6 lower cup and BT-060 upper cup. The upper cup is extremely expensive now. The race is machined onto the worm. I ordered a Timken roller and cage assembly through auto parts last year, cost me about $10. The factory was very concerned that I didn't want a race or cone. I was able to obtain the cork gasket ring from AGCO, or make your own from 1/8" cork - 2" ID and 2.375" OD. Be certain to follow service manual instructions on assembly concerning adjusting the eccentric.

If you take them to a good auto parts store they should be able to match them up with a bearing that is easy to find. I do that all the time.

If the carrier is not bad you can just replace the balls. Most hardware stores like ACE will have them in the pull out drawers.
