Was the paint military (olive drab) by any chance? 1942 = WWII, restored a B and C that era both had OD paint over a red oxide primer, and under Persian Orange. Only a thought.

It is Pretty close to an olive grab. Could be War related. Hard to tell

My Grand Paw once remarked about a feller's green tractor, that it would make it easier to hide the thang in the corn field when the repo man came out.

A John Deere lover who ended up with a C. I don't believe it came that way from the factory.

I have seen pictures of tractor painted a lot of different colors other than what they were when shipped form the factory. I also see them at tractor pulls and in peoples yards for sale as I drive the roads. I doubt if anyone can explain why someone decides to change the color of their tractor to a particular color other than the person painting it. A few years ago when removing paint from an Allis B that was orange I found several layers of paint. Under the orange was IH red and Ford Blue. I painted my Simplicity 9523 Oliver green to watch the rubberneckers slow down and gawk while I was mowing my yard.
