My 1957 D14 runs great for three minutes and then dies. I gas line and filter seem okay. I pulled the carb and their was quite a bit of oil in the bottom, posssibly pulled in from the air filter bath. I bought this after it was re-built. Problems could be coil, condenser or gooky carb. What would cause the oil in the carb?

I agree with majority.. clean air intake system.. use proper weight oil too.. no super thin stuff. Go from there.

Thank all of you for the quick responses. Looks like the plan of attack is to go over the whole air intake system. Then I may as well rebuild the carb as I alreaduy bought the kit and it looks like it was never rebuilt. If that doesn't do it I'll move on to the coil and condenser.

I'd guess the stalling is caused by the oil in the carb. Solve this first. Probably too much oil in the air cleaner.

Are the plugs oily after she dies? You need to solve the oil in the carb problem first. Is there too much oil in the air bath? Take the air hose off the carb in a clean environment and see how she runs.

Sounds like your oil bath air cleaner either has too much oil in it, or, more likely, the air cleaner intake is restricted, or the whole air cleaner assembly needs to be taken off and given a thorough cleaning. Your engine is going to pull air in from somewhere, hopefully through the air cleaner, if the air cleaner is restricted, the engine will pull oil out of the oil bath.
