There's an Allis Chalmers B going up for auction in town soon. Where do I find the seriel number plate and what is one worth in pretty ratty condition, been sitting in a barn for years. I need to stop and take a better look, just drove by it last night, they were lining up a lot of old equipment. Looked like an old ford N there too. Later PUTTER

The serial number is stamped in the base of the shifter tower. If the engine is frozen and has useable tires, they are worth about $200. A guy gave me his C a couple of years ago - engine frozen and tires shot. Even at $0, I questioned the "buy" a couple of times during restoration. If I didn't have my own machine shop, I could have spent $1500 restoring a $1200 tractor. A good B can be had for $800 to $1000.
