B headlight/charge switch

Fellers, Was wonderin if any one out there had any ideas for the headlight/charge switch on the ol allis'. I recently purchased a lil B tractor and am tryin to get the electrical staightened out on it. It was quite a wonderment, seems the ol boy just threw a twelve volt batt. into it and called it good. There was no capacitor in front of the coil, probly why he told me he had changed it out a couple times, anyhows the charging system was non existant, just the original generator bein used for a fan belt tension and no wires hooked up to any thing.Now I have an WD45 that has the twelve volt batt. with a capicitor(12-6vlt.)in front of the coil and the original generator wired up and this has served me well, charges real good. I would like to wire up the same on the B, what i was wonderin is there a way I can do thiswith some sort of switch other than the stock 50-80.00 replacement three way switch? The original switch was gone on the B, so I cant wire it up like i did on the WD45. any ideas would be great thanks, Hoss

there are three ways to do this.---- the original 6 volt system had a cutout relay and used the light switch as a manual regulator to set the current output.---- you switch to a 12 volt generator and you dont need the light switch, you need a voltage regulaltor with 3 terminals, G,F, and B. you can use your original 6 volt genertor and push it real hard, or you can install a better 12 volt generator designed for the system. 12 volt sustems do not, or can not, use the lights switch for current regulation.---- last plan is to install a 12 volt alternator with internal regulation and eliminate the old light switch, and the voltage regulator needed for a genertor. if you eed a drawing or info--- [email protected]
