i installed it last night and the seal was fine thanks for the responses,it tried different holes for backlash and it didnt sound right,i cant find an arrow like the manual says to line up and i took it out to look i saw a broken tooth on the gear inside,i cleaned it out to see if it was an old issue,seemed to be.questions how much back and forth rotation is o.k.? should i not try to run this with the gear like it is?it had alot of gear noise. any suggestions?thanks

my belt pully makes a real bad noise but the teeth are good on both gears. are there any bearings that could go out? and if there are how can i buy and replace them? Thanks

There is no standard position for the arrow- pulley should be fitted to the individual tractor. Try different holes for the setscrew until you find one where you can rotate the pulley 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Mark that spot, top of the sleeve, with a punch.

If you use it with a broken tooth, you may take out all the teeth on both gears. Are you needing to do belt work? If you aren't doing belt work, put the pulley in the out position and leave it there and don't bother to fix the gear. It is very hard to shift the tractor with the pulley engaged so it isn't engaged unless it is being used. As far as I know, the only time the tractor is driven with the pulley engaged is with a mounted corn picker which uses the pulley to drive the husk blower.

If you are doing belt work, the inside gear must be changed.

thank you for the quick responses,and also the answer i thought of its just nice to have a second opinoin.i was going to use this for enjoyment this fall running some old machines,so i can either fix the gear or use this as an excuse to buy more tractors.thanks.
