If facing the distributor cap on a WD allis, where would the number one plug wire go? The 2 o"clock position or the 4 o"clock position ? I am think the Wd I bought may have the distributor rotated 180 degrees?

Well there is the factory correct place and also what it might be now. Or in other words it can be any one of 4 places all depends on how it sits in your engine. You need to pull #1 plug out and get it at TDC, then pull the cap and see where the rotor is pointing. You then have a 50/50 chance on it being at the right time. If you hook the wires up and it doesn't run but back fires just switch them side to side on the cap and it will problbly be right

Which post the #1 wire goes into is immaterial. The important question is which distributor post is the rotor pointed at when the #1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. THAT is the post for the #1 wire.
