There's a 39 B for sale near me. It is in decent condition, brand new tires all around. The hood is slightly dented, but all there. It is a crank start, with no lift of any kind. Has a PTO with a pully. No price on it, no answer at the number. Is it rare to be so stripped down like that, with not even a mechanical lift? What's the going rate for these tractors? Thanks.

If that's the thmb of Michigan I live at the bottom (Imlay City area).

Running electric start B's go $1000. At the Berville sale last year a wreck that barely ran and was not as good as my parts tractor went for $600. Hydraulics add little to the price of a complete tractor, but are somewhat dear to add. Belt/PTO unit is $200-250, for a hydraulic capable one add $50-75, plus the pump is around $100-150. A rebuilt pump is about $200. You are better off finding a complete tractor for $1000 than buying one that's not set up to your liking.

If you buy it,I have a 39 B with electric start that would be a good doner, plus some implements and a belt/PTO unit. Drop a note.

the B with hydraulics and electric start is a nice tractor. i hav bought a couple for $750-800. the hydraulic pump will cost $100. THe starter and flywheel could cost $200 and then you need a battery. If you want a crank start, go for it. Personally i wont buy without a starter. Now if it was $400, i might consider it for upgrade, but $500 is WAY top end in my mind.

Hi Matt, What you see is all the complete tractor, this was one that was manufactured at the start of the war years. No extra's. I purchased one a couple of years ago identical to what you just described. If the sheet metal is good like you described, probably $500.00, sometimes people think they are worth a lot more. I paid $300.00, this is for a restoration project, that I have not started. Cheers, Murray

Yeah the tin is all there. The grill screen is in good shape. The hood could be straightened a bit. There are no decals on it. It seems like a neat little tractor. The wife wanted a Cub to drive around. Maybe I can get it for a song, who knows.

In my opinion... the B is twice the tractor that a Cub is. I'd agree with Murray on price. If it has a plate bolted on the opposite side of the rear end as belt pulley, it should be easy to add a used hydraulic pump and three point for another $400 or so. That makes it a pretty useful little rig.
