I have a friend that is selling his model G at an auction this Friday and we are wanting to start it. It is stuck in I think 2nd or 3rd but am not sure. I know when I shift it into First gear it locks the motor. When I shift it to neutral and roll the wheels the motor turns over. From reading here I find that it has an extra low first gear that does not show on the shift pattern. The shift pattern only shows 3 gears. Tomorrow I plan to remove a side cover and see If I can tell what is wrong. If we hold the clutch down we can roll it around. Should I try lifting out the shift lever and see if the forks are lined up correctly? B. Jones Thank you for any help.

The shifting pattern is a decal on the battery box. The low gear is farther to the right of first and then forward. Some times the low gear shifting rod will go to far forward and the gear shift will not bring it back.

I think you will need to take the side cover off. The side cover has the forks riveted to the cover. You have to slide the gears with the grooves into position and then put the side cover on with the forks over the grooves.

Bob, thank you for your quick reply. No I have not checked the lube yet but I will tomorrow. Thank you for the tip on the shift lever. I think maybe it is held in with a snap ring. I do have a parts book which helps some. B. Jones North Central Missouri.

I WOULD PULL THE SHIFTER OUT AND LOOK IN WITH A FLASHLIGHT. YOU CAN LINE UP THE FORKS WITH A SCREWDRIVER. DID YOU CHECK LUBE LEVEL? BOB
