AC WD cooling system

I posted a message about my cooling system before and I am not sure if I have the problem solved or not. I filled up the radiator with the block and hoses empty (full of air). I have no bypass on the thermo housing or on the thermostat. After about 5 or 10 minutes of running, some coolant starts coming out of the overflow tube. Once when I was trying to get the air out of the system, I left the cap unfastened and the coolant blew up like a geyser. I am hoping that it is just air coming out. I am not sure if the thermostat has opened yet or not. I heard a bubbling sound like the air was trying to escape or get in. The temp gauge only got to about 130 or 140 before the overflow started leaking. Is my gauge wrong? After the geyser incident and the overflow tube leakings, I still look in the radiator and see coolant to about 1" from the top. I am hoping this is just the way the air is bled out of the system and there is nothing wrong with my thermostat or water pump. Any ideas or suggestions on this matter would be appreciated.

Yep probably air is the system getting bleed out. One way to fix that problem is to drill a small hole in the flat part of the thermostat and that will let the air by and also let a small amount of water flow at all times.
