D17 hydraulics

I have a series IV D17 and whenever I try and use the 3pt hitch the ram starts and stops and then start, ect. I've checked the fluid level for the hydraulics and its full. Do the cylinders need to be replaced altogether?

Make sure the traction booster valve is not stuck.
It is a spring return type valve and if it's stuck, it won't let the lift valve operate correctly. Use some good penetrant like Kroil to loosen it up.

It's kinda hard to see underneath the mounting plate on top of the valve stack, but it's in the FRONT of this view.

don't know how much pressure there should be at the rams and am not sure how to check it (I would think all you have to do is have the right gauge, hook it into the supply line) if you have the correct pressure and the rams don't work you can replace the packing inside the ram.
