I stopped to look at a wd45 today that was parked along the road with a for sale sign on it.Nobody was home so I couldn't start it or drive it.I think I figured out most of the controls, but I'm curious about the hand clutch.It does not seem to operate anything like our ca hand clutch does.It is much easier to pull and stays at either end of its travel. Obviously this is a completely different system,is the hand clutch supposed to act this way? Also what else should I look for on this tractor, and what would it wiegh approximately. You are correct about the WD-45 hand clutch being completely different than the CA. The CA clutch is spring loaded and simply disengages one rear wheel from the differential. The WD and WD-45 hand clutch is located in the drive line behind the hydraulic pump and PTO drive, but ahead of the transmission and it is an over-center type.

Be sure to look at the engine close and see if it has a plate that bolts on to the right side of the engine or doesn't have one. If it has then its a WD not a WD45. To bad you live so far away I could give you a good deal on a good running WD or WD45 since I have both and need to sell them. As far as the hand clutch it will pop in forward for stopping the tractor or back for makeing it go. PTO keeps running so PTO is live that way

The hand clutch disengages the power to the wheels, leaving p.t.o , hydraulics, and pulley to run. My WD45 weighs 4500 with fluid in rears and a wide front

Are you sure on that weight? My 45 with factory PS, 13 in rims with 14.9's filled wf & two sets of weights is near 6000 lbs. Maybe 5850 as I think the last time I pulled it in the 6000lb class at our county fair that I did hang a farmall weight on the side frame to make it 6000lbs.
