YYYYY YY If its truly a One Wire Alternator, MOST of them are for Negative Ground remember,,,,, ,,Sooooo o are you already at Negative Ground ??? and/or if not and you converted polarity, any ammeter leads would have to be swapped and if its a battery powered coil ignition instead of a Magneto, the coil leads would, likewise, need reversed. DO NOT HOOK UP THE ALTERNATOR OPPOSITE GROUND FROM ITS DESIGN.... Next, do you have an ammeter??? If not, I agree with my Old buddy, the alternators big main output stud wires to the batterys hot ungrounded post often at a starter switch or solenoid where the big battery cable attaches and Id use a 10 Gauge wire. Buttttt tt if you have a working ammeter, then the alternators output wires to the Load (NOT to battery/starter) side of the ammeter. The ammeters other Suppyl terminal is what wires to the battery often at the solenoid or starter switch where the big battery cable attaches.
