Where would you find the serial number plate on a D-14 Allis? Also what is a tourque booster?

Bryan,
Below is a link to a web site that explains where to look for the S/N of Allis Chalmers tractors.
The link is on the right column about half way down.

The feature you're probably referring to is called Traction Booster. It was Allis Chalme's method of providing transfer of weight to the rear wheels mainly for plowing (there were other implements that utilized the concept)
This was done by sensing the amount of pull and applying some hydraulic pressure to the lift arms.
Because the tractor/plow were moving forward, there was enough suction to keep the plow in the ground.
The amount of "boost" was adjusted by a small lever on the left side of the steering wheel.
The idea was to keep the wheels from slipping, yet maintain plow depth.
