I have my neighbors 185 PTO shaft pulled out. He was baling the other day and the PTO just stopped turning all at once. It appears that the coupler that goes between the front and rear shaft slid completely up onto the front shaft. Is this a common occurance? Is there any way, other than removing the cover on the right side, to slide it back? Anything I should look for besides the snap ring on the front shaft being damaged? He said that the rear shaft had some end play in before this happened. It seems to me that others I have had apart didn't have much end play but this one has about 3/8". Any ideas why?
