B shutters/grill removal

Fellas, I have a question for anyone who has had there nosecone or grill off there "B". I have just added a little "B" to my tractor stable and when cleanin out the radiator thought I would go ahead and remove the grill to knock out a dent, well I didnt get to far as the shutter crank seems to be in the way,none of my other Allis' have shutters so this one is new to me. The obvious looks to be cut off the small crank part or the "T" in the shutter stem remove the nose or grill then grind down the handle or cross part then redrill the hole out and make new "crank" to insert back in the stem after the grill is put back on. The thing looks to be spot welded into place but am not sure. Anyhows any ideas or how to advise from the experianced on this would be great, I know some of you have had the grill off and can set me straight on this one. Thank you much, Hoss

Guys, thanks so mutch for the tips on the grill/shutter handle, I take it then that the shutter handle is threaded and after crankin the shutters open all the way you continue to turn back to the left and the crank handle unscrews from the threaded "stem" inside the grill? Thanks again, Hoss

Is it rusted tight? If not you just turn it to the left until it comes off of the pull rod and remove it. Rusted tight creates some problems, I have never had one that didnt come loose after some pen oil and prodding myself.

look up thru the grille at the top on the side of the crank. there is a spring in there. i think you reach in there with a small tool and remove the spring, on your left as you look in, from the end closest to the crank then the end of the crank should unhook and you should be able to remove the crank. haven't done one for a while, hope this is correct.Bob
