I bought this AC 7000 series tractor that has a shifing problem. When you put it in ANY geat the tractor operates fine but you can't shift out of the gear it's in. If I pull the shifting tower out and puit it back in, it will shift out of gear into N then I can shift into a ny gear and the problem appears again. The tractor transmission is fine otherwise. Is there some adjustment I can make on the shifting tower or something? Other than that the tractor seems fine. Thanks Jack

Well this tractor has A-C 7000 on the side and it's a maroon body. It does NOT have a T handle shifter. So I guess that makes it a 7000. If the motor is off on on makes no difference in trying to get it out of gear. Is there a bushing or some adjustment I can make to the shifting tower to maybe fix this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Jack

OK the 7000 was built from 1975 to 1981 it is basically a dressed up 200 with power shift it really has very little similarity to the 7000 series tractors other than cosmetic and the 301CI engine. I'm hoping an old AC mechanic can help you because I got into selling right about the time they were being phased out for the 7010 although the ones out there ran pretty trouble free and not much trouble. Good luck CT

Hurst brought up a good point. First of all I have to assume its not a actual 7000 tractor because they were a power shift tractor with a wet clutch. Stopped production around 1980 or 81 replaced by the 7010 it was 7020's brother. I can't remember the 7000's details but I'm sure someone here can, I think there was a range shifter but not sure. It's easy to tell the new series 7000 (series) from the maroon belly tractors the black belly had a T handle shifter that did cause some problems, I was selling these things and I didn't like them because if you pushed the clutch down too far some people would force the shifter out of gear and risk damage to the shifter mechanism. You need to give some more details and I think someone here can help you very easily, I was just a salesman tryin to make a living. Good Luck CT

Are you talking about a 7000 or a 7000 series (7010, 7020, 7030, 7040, etc)? A 7000 is completely different mechanically than its larger counterparts. If it is a 7000, is it a maroon belly (shifter in the floor of the cab/station) or a black belly (shifter on the consol)? That also makes a difference because the black belly uses a wet inching clutch where the maroon belly uses a dry clutch. Does it shift out of gear with the engine off and a little rocking around or do you know for sure that it is getting hung up in the transmission and not just a clutch problem? It will help a lot to know what tractor you have. Good luck and let us know what you have and any more information.

Hurst
