Saw a nice little Allis B today, I think around 1948 or so. It has a 3 point hitch (dual cylinders, one on each side) with a single hydraulic control, has hydraulic power up and down. If somebody made this hitch they sure did a good job, or it might be an aftermarket one. The front mount hydraulic pump is driven off the front of the crank pulley via a u-joint and the home made tank that he fabricated fits under the tank nice and snug. He's fabricated a nice little bumper on the front to protect the pump, all the sheet metal is straight and it is a battery start. All the hydraulic hoses are in good shape and rounted where they should be. I've seen some homemade hitches before and if this is homemade, it's a pro-level job. Tractor runs great and drives good, it has brand new rear rubber and rims and also good front tires. Comes with a rear blade and maybe some other stuff. He's asking $2600 Canadian, that would be about $2300 US but a guy could probably get it for a bit less, he's open to an offer. Whadaya think, I've never had an Allis before? Anything to watch for when I take it for a drive again?

Buy it. One of the best tractors of that size ever built. Their main drawback was lack of a 3 point hitch which this particular owner took care of very nicely. From what you're saying, you'll probably never find a 3 point hitch as well built and solid as this one. If it's a 1948 it should have electric start and lights. Kind of nice to have in Canada where it not only gets cold but dark early as well. Only thing you might want to get for it would be a weather brake (heat houser).
