Which Allis model (deisel) would be a good rowcrop tractor in the 75-110hp range for a small farm. Tilling up to 85 acres, and all that goes with growing a few crops on it. Would need to be a good starter in these cold MN winters for blowing snow and running generator as well. Not real familiar but with prices of red and green I am exploring other brands.

I bought a 7000 black belly that had a lot of bad seals in it. Now that most of those are replaced, it really runs like a top. The A/C is what really pays for this tractor. I wouldn't want to be on an open station in the dust and heat now that I have this tractor. I did have to replace the bull pinion shaft seals, which required a full rearend break down pretty much, but only about 60 dollars in parts I think, maybe a little more, but not much, just a lot of time... If you think you're considering a 7000, let me know, if you e-mail me, I can give you a lot of information and knowledge that I have learned through owning mine for 2 years.

My dad has a 1978 Allis 7020 diesel tractor with Cab for sale. We are in central,WI. It's 120HP. If the batteries are good and the cables are good it starts easily.

A good suggestion [if one can be found] would be to find one of the later AC 190 gas tractors and I am sure it will satisfy you. plenty of power for a small Farm with 4 row equipment. They are easy to start in cold weather and gas usage is affordable. I used one for 320 acres of Corn,Oats and Alfalfa Ground and some Soybeans. It was operated along with a D17 and two WD45's but the 190 did all the heavy work very satisfactory.

We have 3 tractors we use to run some hay ground. My brother-in-law does the actual work, he's the farmer among us and enjoys it. There is a 4010 diesel, a 4020 gas, and a recently aquired AC200. He is using the AC for everything, leaving the green set. He was disappointed when I did not buy another green one. I'd like a bit more road speed, but it starts and runs like a top, and is very fuel efficient. Book says it runs 14-15 MPH on the road, I don't know.

I have operated several of the 190's and when they get alot of hours pulling heavy loads, they start jumping out of gear. Very expensive to fix. My neighbor has a 7000 and a 7045. The 7000 has about 700 hours and has had 6 water pumps put on it. The 7045 has about 2500 nad has had the transmission rebuilt once.

It has a straight cut tranny, and that happens with careless gear grinders.
