Just got back from the Hutchinson Minn. show, it was fantastic to say the least. Saw an old WC with a hydraulic pump driven from the front end of the crankshaft, a very neat and compact unit , just wondering if the front main bearing will stand up to this load, has anyone had any experiences with a setup like this.

I made a reversed WD loader in the late 70s, using a front mount pump. First pump had a Lovejoy coupler, second one (same tractor) had a double chain sprocket drive. Neither one had hany adverse effect on the crankshaft or bearings.

the pump theoretically puts no load on the bearings. the pump is mounted to a steel plate and plugs into the crankshaft with a coupling. the front end of the crank puts out a twisting motion to turn the pump, but no side load extra on the bearings since there is no up and down motion, like a connecting rod or crank.

Very common set up on a lot of tractors with front end loaders and I have yet to here of any problems because of them as far as the main bearings
