I have an allis-chalmers WC and i hear so many different horsepowers for it.Does someone know what it really is ? i heard 24 to 35. thanks for any help!

If you are interested in a single tractor (the one you now own), the only way to tell is to dyno it. The WC was tested once in 1934 and twice in 1938 (tractor fuel and gasoline). The results are all different. In the 50's and especially the 60's, after market rebuild kits became available that bumped the displacement up and raised the compression ratio from 5.5:1 to as high as 8:1. These things can make a big difference in horsepower. With 4 1/8 cylinders and high compression pistons, the WC could easily have 36 horsepower. However, standard pistons and cylinders yielded 29.16 hp at the belt.

What year is your tractor? The higher number will be for the belt pulley/PTO horse power and the other will be for the draw-bar.

do a web search for ''nebraska test''it has all the HP data...also there will be 2 ratings...one for PTO and the other for drawbar.
