I have a ca that the hand clutch is slipping on.. I have removed the right side axle housing and am tring to get the clutch out.. Can any one tell me a trick to doing this.. My service manual says just pull it out but years of rust and grime are probably holding it on tight. An IT manual says remove a snap ring but I can not see one and a post on here a while back says the ring does not exsist.. Any help would be appreciated I am trying to rebuild this clutch fast so we can get to a show next week.. Thanks

Just a follow up, after several weeks of soaking with Blaster, a big gear puller modified and an impact gun the clutch is out. Man that thing was on that shaft tight. For anyone else the clutch does just pull off the shaft there is no snap ring holding it on there, like the IT manuals says. The snap ring is inside the brake drum and holds another part of the plates on. Thanks for the help. Now we just got to rebuild and put her all back together..

It's been about 10 years since I fixed the one on my CA so my memory is faint at best. I studied the exploded view of the parts for this assembly in my Allis Chalmers repair manual (if it will help, I'll send you the pages from the Allis manual - send me email). There is a snap ring in the assembly but it does not prevent disassembly or removal of the clutch and shafts. The entire clutch and the shafts should come out as a unit. The actuator asembly should stay with the drive housing. Can't help much beyond that. Sorry
