d14 power director adjustment

Our d14 power director works ok in hi or low, but in neutral it is still trying to pull some. Sometimes you can stand on the brake or if you are going uphill it will let loose. Is this a adjustment issue? I gotta tell ya,I read the adjustment procedure and it looks rather complicated. Looking for other ideas before I try this. Thanks,Scott

Scott, My D14 and D15 will stop after the oil is hot! Might have wrong weight oil in power director compartment. Don't have a book handy but think hyd. oil in power director compartment and gear oil in rear. There is a seal that seperates the two compartments and if bad the fluids could be mixing and be to thick for power director proper operation. Its been a while since I've been in a power director but seems like you move shims from hi or low side to the middle to correct if it slips in hi or low. Dale

The D-14 was designed to work exactly as you describe. It is never totally disengaged and it does not require adjustment.

Thanks for the reply Denny. So is the power director on the 14 different than the 17 because as I remember the 17 we had did not pull at all in the neutral side. Any more info you could provide would be appreciated. thanks,Scott

I would say that if your D-17 did not move in low gear with the power director in neutral, it was probably worn a lot. My D-17 and D-14 act the same. Both pull a little bit with the director in the middle. When I'm pulling a baler with the 14, it does stop when the director is put in neutral - probably because the baler is heavy. The D-15 will be the same and I would expect the D-19 to act the same. Driven a lot of these, and everyone that I've driven pulled a little bit in the center position.
