I have a D-14 A/C always have a problem with running after about 20 min.will have to full choke, then runs at idle speed.shut tractor off for 10 min. will run good for about 10 min.
I had the carb. rebuilt, gas tank cleaned out,new plugs, plugs, points, cond. plug wires.
Changed batt. to 12v, added resistor in series with coil. tractor starts very good (everytime)
can anyone help...at witts end.
also is there an alternator kit for this tractor?
alternator,bracket, voltage regulator, coil, belt etc.? if so where are they avail?

Charlie,
What your describing is also a sympom of a bad coil. I have a wd45 12 volt with a 12 volt coil that doesn't require a resistor. Wells Coil LU800. As far as the alternator kit I'm not sure what your gen bracket is like but the wd45 bracket was close enought that all i had to do was move it forward on the frame a few inches and drill a few holes. I traded in my 6 volt generator to the local alternator repair place for a delco 10si with a 1 wire setup. There is place that makes universal brackets. I think i attached the site (never tried doing that b4). I think that same guy sells alternators. I like my local guy the best. Seems to be knowlegeable and helpful.

you have been a great help, had D-14 running pretty decent. new coil, new plugs points and cond. new plug wires.
another problem....someone needed a set of plug wires. bought a new set...but don't know the order they go. can you help

An alternater will have a built in voltage regulator so you will not need the external one you have now. Points, cond, should be ok. I sent you an email on the alternator and bracket site. Not sure how to attatch links to this forum. Also there is a guy name duey on here with a site that i've tried to attach. He Has diagrams which are helpful. His site shows 12 volt conversions for the older Allis's but they should be similar as to what you need. Also when changing to 12 volt, you should be going to negative ground. Look at Duey's 6 to 12 volt diagram for distributor with key start. Its a little different than mine but very thorough and also has napa part numbers, very good. With the 1 wire alt you dont need the switch he show's with multi positions, you'd just need a simple on/off. Good luck.

I used the Duey site and it works, one question since I am getting ready to mount alt. did you get a new belt or put your generator pulley on the alt to make the old belt work? thanks
