I am restoring a AC G and need to replace the front wheel grease seals. The old part number is National 6359 but I am told there is no after market replacement for this seal. The outside of the seal is leather. Does anyone know where I can find a pair of seals? Is there another alternative? Thanks

I can't believe you've had no reply to this! And I can't find any trace of your number. What do you mean by "outside of the seal"? Most seals have leather or neoprene to the center. From the looks of the diagram in my G shop manual, the bearing should drive up against a round shoulder which the seal slides around. If you can give me the exact diameters of that shoulder and inside of the hub plus the bearing race number if it has the same outside diameter as the edge of the hub - but don't drive it out just to get a number -, I'll try to come up with a recommendation.

The seal must be pressed onto the shaft----the ID of the seal is steel and the OD is leather that seals against the wheel hub. I have been trying to run down a seal for two weeks and finally gave up and "rebuilt" the old seals by prying the two steel pieces apart, straighten the steel parts, and made new leather pieces to fit into the rebuilt seals. Seems to work.

Well, that is a new one on me. I thought I knew all about old Allis since we had the dealership here. But I never saw the wheel bearing apart on one. I see the seal design you describe in a bearing and seal book.
