XT jumping out of gear

On going down hill with brushog will jump out of 5th gear.Worn gears,shifter parts or what?I had this problem with an NAA Ford and increasing spring tension on the detent pin fixed it.

I assume you are talking about the 3rd speed in the transmission in which case it will also jump out in 6th.
It could be a worn shift fork, woun out bushings on the 3rd gear or a bad slider and gear.
Pull the transmission shif cover and look at the forks. see bow much slop is in the gear on the shaft.

If that is a 190XT that was a common problem on the early ones. I.E. the series 1s. Sorry I don't remember the way to fix them.
