I had to clean my mag on my Wd and I didn't mark it right can anyone telk me how to set the timing of the mag to the rotor.

Yes, would put it on the rotor gear on C mark aligned with punch mark on magnet shaft gear or beveled teeth but if mark is gone this link has instructions to help.

Glen, the info you send helped some I"m have a punch mark on the small gear but no marking on the big one. Also my larger gear is not mounted in the cap it"s in the mag mounted to the points plate.

Hi Charles,

Then you definitely have an FMX and not an FMJ. Unlike the FMJ, the large gear stays in the housing when the main (large) cap is removed from the FMX. I take it you removed the large gear without matchmarking the two? The photo below shows an FMX I have:

Note the relative positions of the flats on the two shafts and the marked tooth on the small gear. Try setting yours up like that and see if it works. Once you get it working, I'd matchmark the large gear for the next time. However, just changing points and condenser should not require unmeshing the gears. The large gear is retained in the housing by a snap ring at the bottom of the shaft - perhaps your is missing.

The little gear on the rotor and the large gear both have timing marks from the factory.

Probably, the rotor gear will have one mark labled "A", and one mark labeled "C", for "clockwise" and "anti-clockwise". Since your mag runs clockwise, use the "C" mark.

bob took the mag off ,cleaned the gears and fine no marking on the gears here is more info off the tag on the mag fairbanks-morse make-cw type20 ; FM stamped 4 16c someone scratched a x in front of the 4 and a s between 1 .
serial 6331920
mfd.for 91m247 again ay scratched a y in front of the 9.
