i need a new armature for my starter and noticed that it is different than all the other starters that i have for my c and b models.this particular one has a gear that meshes with another gear to turn the drive something like a gear reduction setup.can some one shed some light on this for me,i been foolin with these tractors for 15yrs.and have never run across this before,got 2 more ca,s and they have the same starters as my b and c,s thanks rudy

jerry what u are talking about is exactly what i have,i think.one small difference between the 2 starters is the gear reduction unit must be slightly smaller diameter,because i can almost get the standard starter far enough forward to put the keeper bolt in but not quite,i lack about 1/2inch from getting it all the way in.thanks rudy

M&W offered a gear reduction kit to give starters more torque. It required cutting off the armature and install a gear. This was aimed at the market of large tractors having 6 volt starters such as the WD45. I am supprised that anyone would install one on a small tractor.
