Just bought a C and the oil pressure gauge jumps back and fourth. Any ideas on what to replace first.

the gauge is bad. as mentioned it should have a very small hole. also the pressure on the C motor is about 10 psi at idle and about 15 psi max. some have a little less than that.

you might alo try taking the base and line off and make sure there not plugged,doesn't take much to slow it down.

Texas is right. If you have a guage from say a car etc it will not work as it should and most don't even read low enough to work at all. Allis engines work on very low oil PSI some less then 20 PSI

The Allis oil gauge had a very small hole for the oil to go through - about the size of a pin or smaller. The small hole dampened out the fluctuations in oil pressure. If you have a gauge that wasn't designed for this application, this may be your problem.
