I am currently painting a late WD (curved shifter and pushrod cover on side of engine). It appears that the inside of the rear wheels are white and the part that bolts to the axle is orange. Is this how the originals were or was this done after the tractor came off the line. Also, are the front wheels all orange or is there some white on them? Thanks.

I bought my '52 WD from the original buyer and the front wheels are white. He never painted any part of this machine, so unless they are newer wheels off a later tractor, which I doubt, since everything else is original, that's how it came from the dealership.

If your tractor is like my '51 WD, someone decided they liked the color scheme of the D-14,15,17, tractors so much that they wanted it on the WD. Newer AC Orange with creme wheels and grill screen. It's gonna get a repaint back to the old orange color with orange wheels. Tim

On the WDs the front wheels should be orange and the centers of the rear wheels should also be orange. The rim its self on the rear should be a silver color.

WD's and WD45's never had white on the wheels. The D series had a cream or almost white on the wheels. Many people painted the wheels cream in later years to make the tractors paint scheme like the D series.

I have seen both front and rear rims painted silver or galvanized but I believe the WD's came out with the fronts all Persian #1 like the rest of the tractor and the rear rims were galvanized.
