I bought a allis chalmers and was told it was a wd45 but i can`t find an ID plate.Can anyone help to determine the model and horsepower.If its not a wd45 its ok.

Not sure this is good for all years but the 45 should have an engine number that starts with 45-. As old said, the engines are too interchangable for that to be definitive on the tractor itself. A WD engine number is probably going to start with just WD or U for the earlier ones.

One way to tell if its has a WD or WD45 engine is to look at the right side of the block. If it has a cover that bolts on it has a WD engine. If it doesn't have a side cover then it has a WD45 engine but either way it could still be a WD or WD45 since both engines bolt up to either tractor.

The serial number is stamped into the rear cover just below the left side brake housing . I used a paint remover to get the paint off to read it because it is very shallow stamped.

Look on "Photo Ads" ..... .there was 2 for sale one had a differnt engine for pulling....

Put WD-45 in search see if they come up....

Check the picture page here to see what it looks like. WD or WD45 has the tractor serial number on the rear of the tractor, left side of the diff housing by a hole in the casting, starts with WDxxx. WD had somewhere around 30 horse, WD45 had something like 40 ish.
