I'm having same issue with mine as Tim...I pulled the head off and had it planed, new exhaust valves put in, and all new guides...still runs the same. I've had the carb apart twice and can't see anything obvious...am leaning towards a new carb...but don't know for sure. If I don't figure it out soon, I'm gonna trade it for a Farmall A...

I had a tractor that had a problem like yours and it ended up being a broken valve spring.

What type of ignition system does it have and when was the last time you put in new points, plugs, condenser, cap and rotor. Also what type of plug wires do you have. If there the ones made for a car or truck then they could be the problem. You need true wire plug wires. Most of the time a miss will not be a carb problem unless its running way to lean or rich

Went down that road with it last year...got a rebuilt mag...have only copper, non-resistor wires and plugs...while it's missing, the spark is strong and blue if you pull a wire on any of the cylinders. The funny symptom is, to get it started back up when hot, you have to choke it...but, if you richen the mix with the choke alittle while it's missing, it gets worse...doesn't make any sense...AND THEY ASK ME WHY I DRINK!

You might have a manifold leak and its sucking some air which would also cause it to miss. I know a miss is one of those things that can be hard to track down and sometimes its something real simple.
