Was useing my C again yesterday and after about 30 minutes the radiator started to blow water out and when I shut it down it ws grugling badly but the temp gauge stayed in the green and there was still a good bit of water in the radiator, but I don't see movement. I think I have a thermostat problem but the last time I tried to remove a theromstat houseing on a C te bolts broke and I don't want this to happen. Could I run it till hot and then try to pull those bolts, will that help them come out or will they still porbably brake? Any ideas of how to do it with out problems with broken bolts??

wouldnt hurt to have it at operating temp and spray it with some penetrating oil first and let it soak awhile...were u able to poke a hole in thermostat?

I jsut went out and pocked a few more holes in the thermostat about 10 minutes ago. I think I may have found whats going on. I tried to drain the water out of the block useing the block drain and littte or no water came out and the radiator is full so I guess I'll more it over to the garden hose and hook it up and flush it out real good again. Maybe let it sit like that for a couple hours with the hose going in to the block drain and have the cap off. I'll set up abve my garden so it will water the garden also since it doesn't have any antifreeze in it any how so I'll be catching 2 birds with one stone.

The bolts screw into the water chamber and rust fast tight on the inside. You can use a lot of heat on the outside where the bolt screws in or use acid inside the radiator. Muriatic acid will attack the rust not the radiator and after a while the bolt will screw out. Depends it you want the bolt out today or day after tomorrow. Both works. Muriatic acid is what is in your yellow bags or Morten softener salt. I buy it at the farm store by the gallon.
