wd45 gear shift problems

I am constantly having to jimmy the gear shift handle around to get the tractor into and ot of gear and now it is stuck in fourth gear and i cannot get the arms to move. Can anyone tell me what I do to get them back into proper postion if I remove the cover and any tips as I am concerned I may not be able to figure out the positioning.? Thank for any help or pics...

You need to stop forcing it in to gear. Because if you do that will happen every time. You have probably never drove a tractor with a curved shifter either have you? You just have to not force it and drive it untill you get used to the shifter. I had to do it when i first started driving my WD-45.

I have heard of people straightening the shifter by heating it with a torch and ending a lot of problems.

once you get cover off there should be some pieces of steel with square slots cut into them...move the slots till they all line up...thats neutral and where you reassemble after you repair or replace the ball on end of shifter...if you decide to repair you basically weld on ball and shape it with a grinder or file so it fits slots without a lot of slop...some folks like to use a hard alloy because it lasts longer...brass is easier to work with...i've used both and none of the brass repairs have failed me yet
