Ok the engine on the project Allis B finally is free! Now onto the next 2 problems.

1 - As I turned it over by hand I noticed there was no oil flow to the rockers or thru the oil filter so I went to drain the oil and nothing comes out. I feel the drain hole and the oil has created a rubber like layer at the bottom of the pan. Finally get oil drained and throw the rest of the Marvel mystery oil into the enging to help loosen up things. Do I throw a gallon or so of Kerosene into the enginge to dissolve the gunk or is it a drop the pan and check out the oil pump?

2 - I check out the maganeto and there is no spark. Never having owned a tractor with a maganeto what do I do now to get spark? Thanks
Tim

The pans gotta come off. You got way to much junk in there and you probably already pumped some of it up in the oil passges. Take the oil pump off, clean it and pack it with grease.MARK THE OIL PUMP GEARS and put them back in exactly as they were. The mag wont show spark like a distributer,it has to be spinning pretty good before it sparks. Just replace the points and maybe the cap and it'll run another 50 years. I ran mags for years and theyre faultless as long as you keep the point gap perfect.Another thing, when you get it running shut it down fast then start it again. Each time let it run a little longer. If you're not patient with this you'll break a ring every time.

YOU CAN'T GET AT THE PUMP BY TAKING THE PAN OFF. YOU MUST SPLIT THE TRACTOR BECAUSE THE BE AND CE ENGINES HAVE THE OIL PUMP BEHIND THE FLYWHEEL. IT IS NOT A GEAR PUMP. IT IS A VANE TYPE PUMP.BOB

Just so there's no confusion: Any magneto whose impulse is working correctly should spark just by turning it slowly by hand on the bench. That's how I check mine all the time. It doesn't have to be "spinning pretty good". The necessary rotary speed of the internal magnetic rotor is created when the impluse coupling trips after spring windup. It's the beauty of a magneto - no battery needed.

If the pan /oil was that bad I would pull the pan. Something like 17 bolts to do so and then you know for sure if you have loose bearings etc. I have just done a bunch of work to a C I have same engine as the B and its not hard at all to pull the pan and have a look see. Now if I where to do it any other way I would only use tranny fluid. Does as good as MMO but cost 1/3 . I my self will never use any thing to clean out the inside of and engine that will burn as easy as kero, diesel and gas. Asl o you need to have the right filter as allis engine some how use the filter to help build oil preassure

I would definitely go the kerosene route. for even safer results (kero can explode just like gasoline) use diesel. Then just turn the motor every once in awhile to flush everything out. As for your mag, you'll probably have to rebuild that sucker. Not really a big deal if you take your time. Probably needs a coil (mags have internal coils) and a cleaning. Magnets may be shot also but it's hard to say. If you're really not sure, contact a mag rebuilding service and have it done. It's money well spent when you can't figure out why she won't run. I have rebuilt one mag and had three done or me. The three I had done I knew were done right. I always guessed about the one I did.
