D-17 Exhaust manifold leaks

Second set of exhaust manifold gaskets I have put on and the same one keep leaking. Seems to blow the gasket, for lack of better words on the left side. Each time I put a new one in it blows part of it out (not the metal gasket but the fiber one that goes inside the metal gasket). Is there some sort of trick or something I am doing wrong?

sounds like either the manifold or the head isnt flat...check em both with a straight edge for waviness and pitting

Agreed- needs to be refinished on a surface plane. All of those surfaces need to line up, or the gaskets do not hold.
