Looking at D14 and just wondering if any of you can tell me the good, bad, and any ugly this machine have. No PS on this one....how difficult to add?

Only Allis I ever owned a 56 CA....good little machine, but not enough gears...never slow enough for cultivation work in young plants...plenty of power though for it's size.

Only problem we've had with ours is 3rd gear jumps out, but with 2nd high and 4th low, we don't even miss it. It's the most reliable and versatile tractor we have. Ours has been mowing hay every year for us for years with a cutter bar, then a haybine, pulls logs or loads of wood occasionally, and plows driveway in winter, and never lacks for power. Great little tractor! Hope this helps.

Eric,

So glad to hear your response, I figured the thread had died. I don't know why some tractors tend to jump out of gear...seems some allis' famous for it. I could never fault the old CA I had 25 years ago for power.....way out of it's league and it seems all allis' are powerwagons. i have had green tractors for the last 25 years.....ain't none of them will stand with an orange one of the same class.....if allis was still in business, no green ones would have ever came here:).

Make sure you try the lower gears out good in the tranny
