Working on my AC WD to get it running...

Basically, my grandpa's tractor's waterpump went out about 10 years ago. So it ended up just sitting in his garage since then. I'm trying to do my best mechanical skills job of putting the thing together to make it run again.

So far, I've:

1. Taken the carbeurator off, cleaned it, and put it back.
2. Cleaned the air filter.
3. Put on a new bypass hose from air filter to carbureator.
4. Flushed the fuel line from the sediment bulb to the carbureator.
5. Taken the old waterpump off, and installed the new one.
6. Replaced the old top radiator hose.
7. Replaced the old bottom radiator hose.

Things I still am going to do:

1. Drain the gas tank (But wondering what's a good way to flush it and drain it without taking it completely off the tractor; and how does it detach?)
2. Replace all 4 spark plugs.
3. Do an oil change & put on new oil filter.
4. Fill it up with gas, put in a new battery, and see if she starts.

Anybody have any suggestions on other things I should check before I attempt to start it up (and any advice about the gas tank, since it's kind of nasty inside)? Or do you think I'll be good to go?

I'll clean the gas tank out (could be less than fun), but unfortunately doubtful that I can get new points, condensor, rotor, and cap... Because grandpa doesn't like to spend any more money than he has to. But if it doesn't start, I'll try that next.

Unsure on how to pour tranny fluid into the cylinders (but isn't that dangerous to try?).

If it has a magneto check for spark when the engine turns over.

Wouldn"t hurt to leave the plugs out and let it whiz over a few rev"s to hopefully oil things up a little before you fire it up.

Thin steel strap holds the front of the tank- those screws can be miserable to get loose if they are rusted in. You can always cut them if necessary, then get the stubs out and replace them. Rear of the tank is held by two small bolts. One fuel line to disconnect. Pressure hot water washing may clean up the tank. I attached an old mounting bracket to a cement mixer, and with a couple pounds of nuts in the tank, let it run overnite. Tarp strap it inside in the opposite position to clean the other side. Magnets will retrieve the last of the nuts. Some people use rocks, but it's hard to get all the dust out. When reinstalling the sediment bulb, find a short plastic tube, stick it inside the bulb fitting inlet, let it stick up into the tank about an inch. Keeps the bottom sloshing gunk from getting into the carb. Some put a screen over the end of the tube as well.

Points, condenser, cap and rotor should also be replaced. You should also pour about a 1/4 cup of tranny fluid in each cylinder to loosen up the rings since they will porbably be stuck
