CA voltage cut-out relay / voltage regulator

We have a restored CA and the Voltage Cut-out relay needed replaced. I ordered the wrong part and I got a voltage regulator instead. Since I have the regulator in hand I would like to use it. Also my 82 year old father-in-law and my 17 year old son want to drive their CA together for the first time in a 4th of July parade. On the surface it would seem that the regulator would work better than a cut-out relay. I have a complete wiring diagram for the generator / cut-out relay. However I have no wiring diagram for the generator/ voltage regulator system. Does anyone know if this is even possible?

the cutout version has the "F" on the generator going to the resistor on the light switch. you will not use the swithc any more.----- take the regulator (hopefully it has 3 terminals B,F,G). mount the regulator to the generatoro, take two short wires about 8 inches long and connect the regulator F to the generator F, connect the G to the generator A, connect the old cutout - out wire goes goes to the ampmter to the B terminal on the regulator.---- the old F wire off genrator to the light swithc, just tape off.----- if your regulator has a L terminal, that is suppost to be HOT when running, normally comes from the ignition switch, IT IS NOT THE LIGHT SWITCH wire.
