Working on getting a friends CA to start. We have pwoer to the starter, but nothing happens? Bad starter? How do we test? Thanks Dan

You didn"t say if it just quit starting or has been sitting for awhile, but either way if starter is old enough to have brush inspection band, take it off and make sure all brushes are snug against the commutator...if a spring or clip has broken and one brush not contacting, starter will not work. Good luck.

Is that one of those starter with the push button on the starter?? If it is you may have bad/dirty contactes in the switch. I have had the same problem on my WD/C and all I did was to pull the starter switch off and clean the contects up real good with emery cloth.
